English Version of Naruto Shippuden: The Board Game Coming Spring 2016

From the publisher, "Naruto Shippuden: The Board Game is a cooperative game based around the travels of Naruto and his friends. It features high-quality art, 3 levels of play and high-quality components."  

Players take on the roles of Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, Rock Lee, Sai and Shikamaru from the Hidden Leaf Village.  Together, they are tasked with stopping the Akatsuki from extracting the tailed beasts from the Jinchuriki and using them to power their ultimate weapon: The Gedô Mazô.  Made for 2-5 players, look for Naruto Shippuden: The Board Game in your local game shop this Spring.

Plaid Hat Games will be releasing Dead of Winter: The Long Night, a standalone expansion to the original Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game, during Summer 2016. Dead of Winter is a cooperative psychological survival game where players must work together toward one common victory condition.  However, in a twist on the traditional formula, each player must also complete a secret objective that is personal to their character.  This objective could be benign, or it could put the entire mission at risk.  Players that purchase The Long Night will experience a new colony full of new survivors and some new gameplay elements.

Another week, another batch of new board and card games on Kickstarter. As usual, if you like what you see, click on the links and pledge some money.

• Tau Ceti: Planetary Crisis - A 1-4 player sci-fi board game. Harness your alien abilities, adapt to a collapsing economy, and lead your civilization to Enlightenment!

• The Manhattan Project: Energy Empire - From the ashes of war, nations rise to power in the Atomic Age. The successor to the very popular board game: The Manhattan Project.

• Ophidian 2360: Survival of the Fittest - An expandable card game where two to four players bring teams of Gladiators to the table and fight in the arena to establish a winner.

• DETHRONED - A card game fusing Real-Time combat with the Hidden-Role genre. Simple enough for parties but deep enough for veteran gamers.

Alderac Entertainment Group is bringing Richard Garfield's Greedy, Greedy Goblins to stores March 28, 2016.  A strategic, tile placement bluffing game, Greedy, Greedy Goblins sees players taking on the roles of rival goblin clans attempting to mine the most gems and gold without blowing themselves up.  Play occurs simultaneously, with players drawing mining tiles from the pool and placing them face down in their caves.  The round ends when either (1) all goblins pawns have been placed or (2) all of the mining tiles have been drawn.

Fantasy Flight Announces Four New Ally and Villain Packs for Imperial Assault

The releases for Fantasy Flight's Star Wars: Imperial Assault keep on coming.  Following up on last weeks announcement of a new expansion, The Bespin Gambit, Fantasy Flight has now announced the impending release of four new ally and villain packs.  The allies only get one new addition this time around with the introduction of Lando Calrissian.  The villains, however, get three new packs:  Bossk, Agent Blaise, and the ISB Infiltrators.  These additions will go great with the new Cloud City expansion, especially Lando.  

 

From the publisher, "Each expansion offers detailed, sculpted plastic figures to replace the tokens included in The Bespin Gambit, and they also expand your games with new Agenda cards, Deployment cards, Command cards, and missions for campaigns and skirmishes."  Like The Bespin Gambit expansion, these new character packs will be available at your local game store during the second quarter of 2016.

Two New Games from IDW Publishing

IDW Publishing Announces Two New Games

First up is Awesome Kingdom: Mines & Labyrinths, a lightweight, fast and funny dungeon-crawling card game in which players compete to be the most awesome hero after three days of adventuring.  Designed for 2-4 players by Kevin Wilson (the man behind the recent runaway Kickstarter success Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past), Awesome Kingdom: Mines & Labyrinths will be available May 20, 2016.  This is a standalone expansion to the previously released Awesome Kingdom: The Tower of Hateskull.

Next up is Back to the Future: OUTATIME, a dice rolling, press-your-luck game where the goal is to be the first to gain the 1.21 gigawatts needed to power your DeLorean!  The game is designed by Daryl Andrews, and is made for 2-6 players.  It will be available May 27, 2016.
